Patience

Episode 18 – Patience

Introduction:

Welcome to Awareness for Everyone, A Podcast about Conscious Reality Creation, and living the best lives we can for ourselves.  I am MJ Blehart, writer, blogger, editor, and 21st century philosopher.  Welcome to Episode 18 – Patience.

Part 1: Why is patience important?

Being present in the here-and-now

Because in being more mindful and working to better consciously create reality as I would like, having some patience goes a long way.

Like attracts like. If I am feeling negative, what do you think I am drawing in?

Part 2: Patience, impatience, getting stuff done

Our Quick-Fix Society

Taking time rather than rushing

No quick-fixes

When it is all about becoming a better you, then patience can go a long ways towards your overall health and wellbeing. When you are more patient, you might also see alternatives that could be missed through impatience.

Part 3: Developing more patience and being less rigid

What can you do to build patience?

This is rather challenging, but I have come up with a few ways to work on being more patient. All of them involve being more present in the now.

  • Breathe. Practicing deliberate breathing can slow down the heart and calm the nerves. It also brings your focus into the now.
  • Meditate. Meditation is practicing mindful stillness and keeps you focused on the here-and-now.
  • Question impatience. When you start to feel impatient, ask yourself why. You might find that your impatience is unrelated to what you are feeling impatient about.
  • Distract Yourself. Take a walk. Watch a video. Read a book. It’s preferable to find a distraction that is productive over one that is wasteful.
  • Pause and Reflect. This is more instantaneous than meditating, it’s a moment in time to consider your goal, and why you are feeling impatient. This can lessen that feeling.

Recognizing and dealing with fear masking itself in impatience.
